Misdirection.

It's done

Yeah. Monday night Milos, Ben, Jerad and I spent our last few hours in the studio recording the Young Fools EP. I'm glad to say that it's done (well the recording process at least, mix down starts on sunday). Suffice to say, I'm feeling relieved. I know in my heart of hearts that this Ep is the start of something big for us. It sounds good, like, REAL good and that's pre mix, so I'm stoked. Not to mention the fact that now that we're done recording we can get back to practicing and writing new stuff, which I'm even more excited about. Long story short, keep checking the blog (if there's anyone that does) and the myspace for updates and news about shows, songs, and...uh...sluts? I'm out.

I stole this from Hassan Rahim.

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.’”

bbltltltaattT!

Wordle: gatt

Reaaally bored today. At least it
isn't super wet outside though.
Don't really know too many people in this
city yet anyways.
Just plain uninspired. So I went to wordle
and fashioned a little piece out of Zach's
original lyrics. Our old songs anyways.
Kinda fun. click it.

young fools...?

So yesterday, I put down vocal tracks on the Young Fools Ep. At the risk of sounding cocky (nevermind, I always do) it's sounding pretty f'ing good. That leaves just a few back up vocals and some auxiliary tracks (shakers, tambos, maybe some keys) to lay down and then it's time for the mix! The next session is February 23rd, and a tentative mix session set for the first of March. We're fortunate enough to have one of Jerad and Ben's instructors on board to do a final mix on the cheap, so we might actually sound like a real band this time around!

I don't mind telling you, I'm super pumped to get this Ep finished. Once it's finished we can start getting down to business. More practice, more songs and overall a better sense of direction. I feel like this could be the start of something good, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We've got a show on St. Patty's day at the Fat Cat. I've been looking forward to playing this venue for a few years, it's got a HUGE stage and pro sound. I'm hoping that a St. Patrick's day show will ensure a good turn out, but it is a tuesday night, so that remains to be seen. If you're in the Stockton/Lodi/Modesto/Tracy/Central California area, you should come out, it should be a pretty good show. I mean, we're playing, and we're awesome, so it's already got that going for it.

love,

Zachary D.

I went to nevada and all I got was this lousy cold.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Whilst the rest of the band finished up guitar tracks for the EP and probably had a shit ton of fun, I spent four days in Tahoe with some fam.  Don't get me wrong, I totally love my family but I have no business in the snow.

yes it was gorgeous.
Observe the biphone pics.  (That thing has the worst camera ever)

But:
I haven't put my feet on a snowboard in years and didn't want to risk injury before a gig
I own two pairs of jeans.  yup.
I only own sweaters.
I hate gambling.
All this limited my activities and I spent much time
watching fox news with grandma. holy crap. She loves to gamble though.

I did however have some highlights in my cabin fever:
lil weezy on my second fave sports show around the horn
I learned there is such a thing as turducken and I want someone to cook it for me so bad.
gnarly sushi exists in the snow.
I managed to walk away from a casino only out 25 bucks. pffff

Not participating in my family's favorite Nevada activities gave me a lot of time to think and also text the thieves and see what I was missing.

as we resuscitate this band and further explore our sound I feel it's completely necessary for us to have a forum all five of us can express our individual voices, because they are sooooo different at times.
Not only that but to keep peeps updated on our doings, recordings, and gigs
since we have no official badass website with cool things like flash animation, lightning, band bio, pie recipes, word of the day, and horoscopes.

I guess we have 2 more days of projected recording sessions and the Young Fools EP
will be done.  I was done day one so I'm suuuper bored and want to hear it now!!!

after that its mastering and pressing and blahblahidonthaveanythingtodowiththatpartblah
oh wait, cover art, yea im on that.  Any artists out theresss?
There's also this battle of the bands thing tonight in which we hope to win a grip of money and pay for all this.  brickhouse in downtown stockton but I guess we aren't advertising it much.
probably because we play ten minutes. balls first as Jerad says.

I guess that is it. I'm gonna nurse this cough.
Prepare to hear the most from me as I
have the least going on in my life amongst the band.
I leave you now with much love and something
you will never get out of your head
